Movie on the aftermath of the bombings of Japan in WWII. Surrounds the remaining days of two children after an air raid, and their struggle to survive. One of the most depressing and saddest movies you will ever see. This film made my mother respect anime. Because she cried for it. Very moving and so depressing with lots of gross depictions of flesh getting torn, trashed, and decomposed. The victims of war.
Strangely, it was aired simultaneously with “My Neighbor Totoro” which is a total opposite in terms of mood.
