Review

Kenji Koiso is an eleventh grade math genius that is asked by his upperclassmen Natsuki Shinohara, to pose as her boyfriend at her family home during the summer. There Kenji meets the proud and ancient Jinnouchi clan, whom have all gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of their spunky grandmother and head of the family. During his stay at the family home, he receives a mysterious math problem and attempts to solve it – allowing a virus to hijack the world’s most prominent social network that controls much of the world’s business and technological infrastructures. Now Kenji and the Jinnouchi clan must find a way to stop this cyber attack, all while trying to sort out family affairs.

Overall this movie was fun and colorful, while teaching the values of family. If anything, this movie just emphasizes the cautions of the anything that could resemble Skynet. With cartoon rabbits.

117 minutes of tears, joy, fuzzy feelings and cute wolf children.

Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children) is a story of motherhood. More specifically, a young woman’s journey from a short fairy-tale romance with a werewolf to the harsh realities of raising children as a single mother. How will she care for two half-human children and what paths will her children take as they grow? Should they be raised as humans or wolves… Or both?

So yes, some of you may or may not know, but I’ve been engaged a few months now and will be getting married in June. Meaning I’m planning stuff NOW.

As a hardcore geek that respects tradition, I will be having the traditional Chinese Wedding… With cosplay and geek decorations. Basically I’m trying to decide whether I want a traditional wedding cake or one in the shape of the Millenium Falcon… I kid you not, here are some of the decorations I will be setting up with:

So until the wedding is over, I can’t promise any graphics, but I will try and get the YouTube videos I promised. Something along the lines of a commentary or random fun videos. You’ll see.

Review

Fifteen year old princess Pacifica Casull is the most feared and hated person by the followers of the God Mauser, as the 5111th Grendel Prophecy predicts that she is the “poison that will destroy the world.” Known as the “Scrapped Princess,” she was abandoned and left to die at birth only to be saved by the commoner Casull family. Her foster siblings Shannon (brother), a swordsman, and Raquel (sister), a wizard become her protectors and leave their home to avoid being hunted down. As they travel, they encounter more and more questions than answers, regarding the catastrophe that is supposed to befall the world on Pacifica’s 16th birthday.

This series was paced very well, allowing you to enjoy each character and their unique personalities. In many cases a damsel in distress such as Pacifica should be annoying, however she doesn’t rub off that way – making her plight as a self-doubting teenager, in comparison to her much stronger and useful siblings, more relatable. I loved how the series built up to the core plot enjoyed the many plot twists. Definitely a classic during a time when fan-service was not a focus, but good story-telling was.

Day 1 – Very first anime. Probably Doreamon. I was probably a toddler and didn’t even know it was anime, but by the time I was 5, I was singing along the theme song (in Chinese).

Day 2 – Favorite anime you’ve watched so far. My favorite anime series are the original Universal Century Gundam series, the conflict between Amuro and Char. In general, the Gundam series have always been my favorite, some being much better than others. But overall I love this mech universe and the whole romance of war, I guess.

Day 3 – Your anime crush. My first anime crush was to Quatre Raberba Winner of Gundam Wing. I was 13 and he was 15/16 – it was perfect. Then I grew up and he stopped aging…

Day 4 – Anime you’re ashamed you enjoyed. I could say anything I watched as a child, but those are justified by the innocence of childhood… Yami no Matsuei (Descendants of Darkness) however, is clearly eye-candy mush. While the back story is intriguing, it was slightly embarrassing to watch with my younger brothers who did not care for the subtle and not so subtle hints of guy on guy action. But I do like my yaoi with older men so…

Day 5 – Anime character you feel you are most like (or wish you were). Aren’t those two different questions? But I guess my answer in who I’m most like is Rukia of Bleach. When you first meet her in the human world, she’s this stoic, mystical shinigami, but once you get to know her – she’s this clueless but cute and brash tomboy, fiddling with a juice box. Derp.

Day 6 – Most annoying anime character. Fam Fan Fan of Last Exile -Ginyoku no Fam-. I had so much love and attachment to the original Last Exile series, so when this sequel came about, I was so excited. I was horrified that the lead character was this annoying little brat that never grew up mentally and thus ruined the series for me. It was an anime where I had really wanted to punch the living snot out of a character.

Day 7 – Favorite anime couple. Haha, in terms of unofficial couple it’d be 3×4 in Gundam Wing (wink wink) but a real couple… It might be Tohru and Kyo of Fruits Baskets… If you read the manga, you’d realize how hard they worked to be together and make things work so yea… Tohru is an airhead, but you got to love how devoted Kyo is to protecting her…

Day 8 – Most epic scene ever. Without a doubt, when Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was chucking galaxies in the final fight. With the theme music going on, I wanted to get up and punch some random person with all the testosterone that had built up in me.

Day 9 – Saddest anime scene. Maes Hughes’ death in Fullmetal Alchemist. Although the first FMA series didn’t end well, the first half followed the manga and took its time building up the characters. Hughes was one of my favorites, so when he died I was like… T______________T

Day 10 – Favorite slice of life anime. I don’t really care for slice of life animes as much, but my favorite would have to be Paradise Kiss. The development of the main character was really good for this short anime and did touch on some mature subjects.

Day 11 – Favorite mech series. GUNDAM

Day 12 – An ecchi picture from your favorite series. Dammit, who wants to see 1970 ecchi pictures? Ugh, gross. I’ll just put one of the prettier Gundam characters, from a lesser series…

Day 13 – Cosplay of your ‘Waifu’ or Husbando’. ……Who the fuck wrote this shit?

Day 14 – Current (or most recent) anime wallpaper. My current one is from StarCraft but my last one I believe was one of my own… I like to test them out to make sure they look good on desktops.

Day 15 – Post a cute Neko-girl. Okay…

Day 16 – Post a kigurumi cosplay of your favorite anime character. Did you like… Run out of questions to ask or something? I don’t even have a favorite character. All I know that I don’t have a favorite characters in my favorite anime… So by default I can only conclude that my favorite “characters” are mechs…

Day 17 – Favorite tsundere. I find tsunderes really annoying and greatly exaggerated. Not because they are mean at first, but because once their soft sides are discovered, they are portrayed as something to be protected almost immediately. They suddenly become too girlish for me… This is probably just a personal thing, since my own personality can sort of be similar to a tusndere’s, but yea… I’ll stick with a character that is a tusndere, but never suddenly became aware that her breast size is smaller than anyone else’s, etc…

Day 18 – Something moe. Honeeeeeeeey…

Day 19 – Mandatory swimsuit post. ……..

Day 20 – Favorite shoujo anime. Ouran High School Host Club!

Day 21 – Best yandere character. She just barely fits the characteristics of yandere, but I guess Misa Amane would do…

Day 22 – Favorite boy’s love couple (or yuri couple). I could name a whole bunch of unofficial couples, but for actual boy’s love, I’d go with Katou and Iwaki from Haru wo Daite Ita. They actually have a developed back-story to their relationship and aren’t teenagers… And their sex scenes are hot.

Day 23 – Anime you think had the best, or most intriguing art. Once again, those are two different questions… The anime that popped into my head instantly for most intriguing is Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. The art was surreal. The best quality animation however, has to be Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.0.

Day 24 – Favorite anime hero or heroine. Major Motoko Kusanagi is badass and sexy. Enough said.

Day 25 – Best anime villain. After much thought, I’d have to say Char Aznable because I don’t even see him as a villain. I love his character and sympathize with his crazy ass.

Day 26 – Your favorite harem anime. Harem… Harem… Harem… Reverse harem… Ouran High School Host Club.

Day 27 – Favorite anime opening theme song. This is hard. I have quite a few I listen to regularly on my MP4 player, but I guess the one I can listen to on loop would be Air’s opening, “Tori no Uta.” It’s just really pretty and great to walk to on a sunny day.

Day 28 – Favorite pokemon. Pikachu!

Day 29 – Favorite school uniform. The Day and Night classes’ uniforms of Vampire Knight were pretty neat.

Day 30 – Anime character you want to cosplay. I’ve wondered for years who I’d cosplay well as. It’d have to be someone with glasses, since I wear them. Although I don’t have the same glasses, I’ve always loved how Abel Nightroad of Trinity Blood, looked and dressed.

Well I hoped you enjoyed my answers. If you’ve read all this, then you must be pretty bored.

Looking back, I see the growth and achievements this site has achieved. I, as a designer and webmaster have learned a lot and met a lot of people. Working on this site and its graphics helped me through my tough times in college and eventually helped me build the portfolio I needed to enter the graphic field, I now work in today. It also helps boost my sense of pride and ego to know that my site is number one on Google when you search the term “Anime Graphic(s).” That my friends, is great for interviews when discussing my web design, HTML and SEO experience…

I’ll admit the updates haven’t been as plentiful as my earlier years, but you all know how that works. Many of my colleagues and fellow anime webmasters have also found that it has become harder to keep up with today’s anime and have time for free graphics when we have college, work and even family to deal with.

Review

When a video of the murder of a Red Clansman is broadcasted for the world to see, rivaling clans begin to clash in search for the one responsible: The self-proclaimed “Colorless King.” Yashiro Isana, a student of Ashinaka High School finds himself in the middle of the feud and the target of the Red Clan HOMRA. He greatly resembles the the murderer in the video, but to prove his innocence he must first survive…

Perhaps due to the alloted number of episodes, this series was unable to fully flush out good character development. It’s either that or the 30% of each episode they wasted on sweeping scenic shots and glittering, hair-waving bishounen shots. Overall the series was horribly paced and pandered greatly to the female audience with the over-indulgence of young males staring into each other’s eyes or brushing against each other. I miss the days where homoerotic subtext were more subtle and done more tastefully. Not this constant fanservice they hammer into your face, for the sake of pandering. It greatly limits the audience pool and comes off as just cheap tricks. If it weren’t for the slight twist in the ending, this series would have received an even lower score. I just hope the manga is nothing like the anime and focuses more on the story and the amazing atmosphere they had created.
